Kriya Yoga Initiations with Shibenduji

An Invitation to Wake Up to the Joy of Life!

Come and listen to the mystic fountain of the ancient sages of humanity….

It flows through the body of Shibenduji; it has in each generation of his family since his great grandfather Lahiri Mahasaya was enlightened by Babaji.

Kriya means action and Yoga means integration. Kriya Yoga emphasises integration of separative consciousness (generated by unceasing movement of thought) with an awakenedness (that is, a non-elective holistic attention free from mental fragmentations) through actions of perception and not through activities of conceptualisation.

Shibendu has the distinction of receiving the original Kriya process in the age old Rishi-tradition of India, that is, from father to son, generation after generation. Thus the process here passed, through knowledge and genes, from Shyama Charan to Tinkori to Satya Charan to Shibendu who was initiated in 1960 by his father, Late Satya Charan Lahiri at the family shrine –Satyalok| D22/3, Chousatti Ghat, Varanasi- 221-001 (India).

When the interference of the mind-ego complex is stilled, what happened in Lahiri Mahasaya’s body can happen in any body. Kriya Yoga is a holy tool that enables the ending of this interference.

Shibenduji invites all humanity to become available to this divine potential. Since 1992 Shibenduji travels the world at the invitation of his students to share this understanding with us. He brings the eternal wisdom of the ancients through Kriya Yoga to all whom are ready to listen.

Inspirations

“Exercises are like prose, where as yoga is the poetry of movements. Once you understand the grammar of yoga; you can write your poetry of movements.”
Amit Ray

“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“If one’s life is so unsatisfying that an unhealthy activity brings a shred of happiness, it is nigh impossible to give it up unless something that brings greater happiness can be enjoyed in its stead.” ~ Prem Prakash

“Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.”
~ Victor Hugo

“Courage is often associated with aggression, but instead should be seen as a willingness to act from the heart.” ~ Donna Quesada

Yoga isn’t just about showing up on the mat. It’s about showing up in your life, in your day; it’s about opening your heart while standing firm and strong and believing in yourself.” ~ Kathryn E. Livingston

The Jigsaw Puzzle

“Consider the jigsaw puzzle. Each piece has its place and no other piece can fit that place. Yet no one piece makes sense on its own. Each piece needs the whole for its integrity and coherence. And the whole needs each piece to fulfill its purpose and bring meaning and order to the puzzle. Once a piece is in its proper place, its separateness is surrendered. We know a piece is in its place when it bends with the whole and disappears.
What is true for a puzzle is true for Reality, with one exception: There is no hand putting us in our place. We must do that for ourselves. We must discover our place and take it. And when we do this, we discover the integrity and meaning of the whole; we discover the divine energy that flows through all things and links each to the other and all to God.”
~ Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro

“Yoga has had a huge impact on my daughter Jamie. It has helped with balance, mobility and breathing. In addition, the relaxation at the end of the classes has assisted with body awareness and my daughter has gained an inner peace and strength. The best part is that Jamie enjoys it and thus gains far more benefit than she ever did from years of physiotherapy.” ~ Michelle Aronson

Upcoming Workshops @ ISHTA!

LAST CHANCE TO BOOK! Taking place this Saturday: Kemetic “African Yoga” Workshop – Saturday 25 January

What is Kemetic Yoga?
“Kemetic Yoga was re-discovered as an attempt to define Yoga in such a way that people of African descent from all over the world can relate to it. Kemetic Yoga is African Yoga.” ~ Yirser Ra Hotep

Present day Egypt is not the original name for the country – the original inhabitants called it Kamit or Ta-Meri, Kemit or Kemet and to the Ancient Kemetians it meant “black land”, because of the yearly inundation of the Nile which caused the rich silt to overflow its banks. The earliest recorded evidence of the practice of Kemetic yoga is around 10 000 B.C.E. and the teachings of yoga in Ancient Kamit was derived from mediation and insights by the early sages, priests and priestesses. In Kemetic teachings the term “yoga” is a process called “Smai Tawi” meaning “Union of the Two Lands” – symbolically meaning the union of the lower and higher self.

Postures of Kemetic Yoga
- Some postures are not known in Indian style of yoga
- Movements are of the Neters/Neteru (Gods/Goddess) found
on the temple walls
- Emphasis is on alignment of the vertebral column
- Many of the poses are triangular and mimic the geometric
configuration of the pyramid
- Primary focus is on the physical, mental and spiritual
awareness
- Most importantly, emphasis is on control of the breath
